Bitcoin surpasses $10,000 for the first time

It happened. One bitcoin is now worth more than $10,000. The price of bitcoin has risen above $10,000 on CoinDesk’s Bitcoin Price Index (BPI) for the first time. The milestone was hit on international exchanges earlier in the day especially  in the South Korean trading platform which saw trading above that threshold both yesterday and today.

Since bitcoin’s market capitalization is less than $200 billion, enthusiasts point out the digital currency could rise dramatically if it draws even a tiny fraction of the world’s $200 trillion in traditional financial market assets.
